By installing or using LegacyDoc AI ("the Extension"), you agree to these Terms of Service.
If you do not agree, please uninstall the Extension and do not use our services.
These VS Code extension terms of service explain the rules for using LegacyDoc AI, a local-first extension
that generates documentation, diagrams, audit notes, and AI-ready context packs from your workspace. The
extension is designed to help you understand and prepare a codebase before cleanup, refactor, launch review,
or AI coding-agent handoff. It is not a hosted repository scanner, not a security audit firm, and not a
replacement for your own engineering review.
2. Description of service
LegacyDoc AI is a VS Code extension that generates documentation for code using AI models.
The Extension requires users to provide their own API keys for AI model access.
We do not provide AI model access or hosting.
3. License scope in these VS Code extension terms of service
LegacyDoc AI is distributed as a VS Code extension through the VS Code Marketplace. These VS Code extension
terms of service grant you a limited, non-transferable right to install and use the extension for your own
projects, client projects you are authorized to work on, or company projects where your organization permits
the extension. You do not receive ownership of the extension source code, brand, product design, or commercial
distribution rights.
The free tier may be used to evaluate fit and generate a limited number of outputs per day. The Pro tier
unlocks additional product features under the license terms described on the pricing page. A Pro license is
intended for the purchasing user and can be activated on up to three devices that user personally uses. If
your company needs broader usage, contact RomantiCode before sharing one license across a team.
4. Free and Pro tiers
Free: Limited to 5 documentation generations per day. No payment required.
Pro: One-time purchase of $29 USD. Includes unlimited generations, custom prompt templates, and batch processing. License key activates on up to 3 devices.
These VS Code extension terms of service allow RomantiCode to change free limits, Pro features, activation
limits, or pricing for future purchases. If a change affects your already purchased license, we will try to
communicate clearly through the website, Marketplace listing, or product documentation. Free usage is offered
for evaluation and light work; Pro usage is intended for repeated documentation, audit-prep, cleanup handoff,
and AI-agent context workflows.
5. Payments and refunds
Pro license purchases are processed by Creem (creem.io), our Merchant of Record.
All payment processing, tax calculation, and invoicing is handled by Creem.
For refund requests, please contact contact@romanticode.com
within 14 days of purchase.
Payment confirmation, tax handling, and charge-related communications may come from Creem rather than
RomantiCode directly. Keep your purchase email and license key for activation. If activation fails, contact
us with the purchase email, approximate purchase time, and the extension version. Do not send private source
code, API keys, or secrets in a support email unless we specifically agree on a secure support process.
6. API keys and data
You are responsible for your own API keys and any costs incurred through your AI provider.
We do not store, transmit, or have access to your API keys or code content.
Your code is sent directly to the AI provider you configure.
These VS Code extension terms of service require you to use provider keys only when you have permission to
send the selected code or documentation context to that provider. If your employer, client, or repository
owner restricts third-party AI tools, you are responsible for following those restrictions. RomantiCode does
not provide legal approval, compliance approval, or provider-specific data-processing guarantees.
7. Acceptable use under these VS Code extension terms of service
You may use LegacyDoc AI to generate documentation, comments, diagrams, module summaries, audit-prep notes,
and context packs for projects you are authorized to inspect. You may not use the extension to violate
repository access rules, scrape code you do not have permission to analyze, bypass licensing restrictions,
generate misleading security certifications, or present AI-generated output as a completed professional
audit when no human review has occurred.
You are responsible for reviewing generated content before using it in production, handing it to a client,
or committing it to a repository. AI-generated documentation can be incomplete, stale, or wrong. These VS Code
extension terms of service make that boundary explicit: the product helps you prepare evidence and context,
but you remain responsible for engineering judgment.
8. AI output review boundary
LegacyDoc AI may generate Markdown docs, JSDoc comments, Mermaid diagrams, module summaries, code audit
notes, cleanup priorities, or prompt-ready context packs. Those outputs are suggestions based on selected
workspace content and the AI provider you configure. You should review each output for correctness, security
implications, confidential details, stale assumptions, and project-specific style before relying on it.
The extension does not guarantee that generated documentation is complete, compliant, production-ready, or
suitable for every team. If you need formal assurance, use professional code review, security testing,
dependency scanning, CI, penetration testing, or legal review in addition to this product.
9. Repository permission and client work
You may only use the extension on repositories, files, and workspaces that you are authorized to inspect.
If you work for a client, employer, agency, or open-source organization, confirm their rules before sending
selected source code to an AI provider. A local editor extension can still create an external provider
request when you run a generation command, so authorization matters even when RomantiCode does not store
the code.
You are also responsible for how generated output is shared. Do not publish private implementation details,
customer data, secrets, unreleased product information, or misleading audit claims. Documentation generated
from a codebase can be useful for onboarding and cleanup, but it can also reveal how the app is structured.
Review the output before sending it to a freelancer, posting it in an issue, or committing it to a public
repository.
10. Support, activation, and license abuse
RomantiCode may help with activation questions, license delivery, marketplace installation, and basic product
troubleshooting. Support does not include reviewing your private source code, fixing your application,
guaranteeing AI provider behavior, or providing legal, security, or compliance advice. If you need a deeper
launch review, use the dedicated audit service or hire an appropriate professional.
Do not share license keys publicly, resell access, bypass activation limits, tamper with license checks,
or use the extension in a way that disrupts the product for other users. We may revoke or refuse support for
keys associated with abuse, fraud, chargeback misuse, or attempts to circumvent the intended license scope.
Normal support conversations should focus on installation, activation, product behavior, and reproducible
error messages. Please remove secrets, private code, customer records, and unreleased business details before
sending screenshots or logs. That keeps support useful while protecting project information.
If a dispute appears, keep purchase receipts, activation emails, extension version numbers, and relevant
non-sensitive screenshots. Those records make the issue easier to resolve without exposing repository details.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
The Extension is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy,
completeness, or usefulness of any AI-generated documentation. You are responsible for reviewing
and validating all generated content before using it in production.
12. Limitation of liability
In no event shall RomantiCode be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential
damages arising from the use of the Extension, including but not limited to damages for loss of
data, profits, or business opportunities.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RomantiCode is not responsible for provider outages, API costs,
generated-code mistakes, repository damage caused by user action, business losses, or decisions made from
unreviewed AI output. These VS Code extension terms of service are written for a developer tool that assists
review; they do not transfer your project risk to RomantiCode.
13. Changes to these VS Code extension terms of service
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
Review these VS Code extension terms of service when the extension adds new providers, new license tiers,
new payment flows, or new output types. If you disagree with an updated term, stop using the extension and
contact RomantiCode if you need account, license, or support clarification.
